Is your water dirty in Midland? Don't worry, it is just water testing at Water Pollution Control Plant

The City of Midland told NewsWest 9 that as of Wednesday the city performed a "major flush" to help with manganese in the water supply.

MIDLAND, Texas — Do you live in Midland and your water smells bad and is dirty?

The Strategic Communications Officer, Stewart Doreen, for the City of Midland told NewsWest 9 Friday that the city "performed a major flush event Wednesday to help with manganese in the water supply."

According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, manganese is a naturally occurring metal that is found in many types of rocks. The agency also said manganese "can be released to the air, soil, and water from the manufacture, use, and disposal of manganese-based products."

"The city reminds residents that water tested at the plant meets or exceeds all TCEQ standards, but we will increase T-Bar groundwater to blend with the surface water to help alleviate the potential smell and taste that customers may be experiencing," said Doreen.

Doreen went on to say that the city will continue to test water samples at the Water Pollution Control Plant.
