BREWSTER COUNTY, Texas — Two women have been arrested for discussing a fake bomb threat while on campus at Big Bend High School Thursday morning, according to the Brewster County Sheriff's Office (BCSO).
Brewster County deputies responded to the high school due to them hearing about a bomb threat being discussed.
When deputies arrived and conducted an investigation, Annica Paige Herrera and Caitlin Ayami Staib used school computers to discuss a hoax bomb threat at Big Bend High.
"Out of an abundance of caution, the school was evacuated and Deputy [Omar] Holguin deployed explosive detection K9 Dori to conduct a sweep of the schools. No explosive residue or items were located," BCSO said.
Both Herrera and Staib have been charged with false alarm or report and have been booked into Brewster County Jail.
BCSO has posted their mugshots in a Facebook post, however, NewsWest 9 was not able to identify who is who.
