Andrews Police Department warns people about scam calls

According to Andrews PD, the impersonator of the scam call will prompt victims into paying the "money owed" by purchasing gift cards.

ANDREWS, Texas — The Andrews Police Department put out a warning on their Facebook page Tuesday letting people know of scam calls involving the "collection" of money to avoid being sued or put in jail.

According to the post, the scam caller will prompt victims into paying the "money owed" by purchasing gift cards and sending photos of the gift cards to the scam caller. The same goes with online purchases such as Facebook Marketplace, Ebay and Craigslist.

If someone is asking to purchase gift cards for payment, Andrews PD says this is a red flag.

If anyone has questions about these particular scam calls, call Andrews PD at 432-523-5675.
