Attempted kidnapping, indecent exposure suspect arrested in Hobbs

According to an investigation, 41-year-old Bunran Chhay followed a woman around Home Depot and into the parking lot and indecently exposed himself to her.

HOBBS, N.M. — The Hobbs Police Department on Wednesday arrested 41-year-old Bunran Chhay for attempted kidnapping and indecent exposure, according to a press release.

HPD was called to a Home Depot located in the 900 block of West Joe Harvey Boulevard because someone saw Chhay dragging a woman in a parking lot.

According to witnesses in the area, they heard the victim screaming for help and ran over to assist.

Witnesses confronted Chhay and he fled the area.

The release stated that officers found Chhay in a nearby hotel room, detained him and took him to HPD for questioning.

After further investigating the incident, it was discovered that Chhay followed the victim around the store and into the parking lot. Then, he indecently exposed himself to her.

Chhay was booked and charged with attempted kidnapping and indecent exposure.
