According to an arrest affidavit, MPD was called to Palladium Apartments located at 2300 South Lamesa Rd on Jan. 18 in reference to a gunshot victim.

Once on scene, they discovered the body of E'Darius Reed.

During the investigation, a person came forward who said they were directly involved in the incident that led to Reed's death.

According to the witness, they had driven to the apartment complex to meet with Reed and Murry for a drug deal. During the deal, Murry, using a firearm, robbed the witness and Reed for the drugs and other personal items.

Reed and Murry exited the vehicle, and a single round was fired. The round hit Reed in the face and killed him, according to the witness.

Murry ran away from the scene while the witness drove away. The witness would later meet with the police.

Reed's cellphone was recovered at the scene. Text messages revealed Murry was likely the other person in the car who fired at Reed.

Pictures of Murry wearing a blue ballcap and a white hoodie was captured from camera footage. That picture was shown to the witness who confirmed that Murry was the person they saw kill Reed.

The name "Darvari Murry" was eventually found through a cell phone database. A search of the phone number through mobile payment app Cash App also showed the name "Darvari Murry" with a Cash App ID.

Due to this investigation, Murry was believed to be the killer, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

MCSO and their SWAT team located Murry with the help of other local, state and federal agencies Friday.

Murry has been charged with capital murder for retaliation of a judge or justice.

Murry was booked into Midland County Central Detention where he remains as of Monday morning with a $1,500,000 bond.
