CARLSBAD, N.M. — The Carlsbad Police Department tells NewsWest 9 that two men were arrested by the Eddy County Regional SWAT team for multiple charges Tuesday morning after a small standoff.

According to a media release, while CPD was out on patrol, they observed a man later identified as 41-year-old Robert Cain Williams outside his residence. Upon further research into Williams, CPD discovered that he had an outstanding arrest warrant for several violent felonies. A search warrant was then sought and approved.

CPD decided to call on the Eddy County Regional SWAT team based on Williams' past history with law enforcement.

When the SWAT team arrived at Williams' house, the team asked the subjects to exit the residence, but it did not work.

The SWAT team forced themselves in and made contact with Williams, Daniel Mauzey and Samuel Mauzey, who were all detained without resisting arrest.

Williams was arrested for first-degree kidnapping, armed robbery and failure to appear in court.

Daniel Mauzey faced firearm and destructive devices charges.

Samuel Mauzey was released at the scene.

When the SWAT team searched the house, they found $30,000, ammunition and firearms. Some of the items were confirmed to be stolen.

This investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force.

Further charges may follow.

Anyone with any information should call CPD at 575-885-2111 ext. 0.
