ODESSA, Texas — A man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in October in relation to a 2022 incident.
According to an arrest affidavit, on Oct. 26 at about 6 p.m. officers were called to an Odessa residence in reference to a stab victim.
Once there, officers found a male identified as Rodolfo Reyes Gamboa with blood coming from the top of his head. They later found a laceration above his right eyebrow, his lower back and the left side of his body as well. Gamboa later said he knew who did it but not the name.
Gamboa said about a year ago the actor's son was involved in a car accident with Gamboa as the other party. He said that the actor's son passed away from his injuries and since then they have had numerous interactions with the actor threatening him.
According to an article written by NewsWest 9 at the time:
"23-year-old Elijah Barrera was traveling through the East University and Adams intersection when he was struck by 56-year-old Rodolfo Gamboa."
Gamboa said he was walking back to his residence from his neighbors when a dark-colored truck stopped in the middle of the road. He was then cut with a knife by a man multiple times.
Gamboa said he recognized the actor of the assault from a court appearance to be the father of the person who died in the crash.
Previous case records revealed on Aug. 24, 2022 that Gamboa was at court and was threatened by the family members of the deceased son. A LexisNexis search revealed that Adrian Sapata Barrera was the father of the deceased.
Detectives conducted a photo lineup with Barrera included. Gamboa was able to select Barrera as the man who assaulted him. Gamboa said he was 50% sure it was him and that Barrera had longer hair and a beard on him now.
According to Ector County Jail records, Barrera was arrested on Nov. 9 and released the same day on a $75,000 surety bond.
