HOBBS, N.M. — The previously at large murder suspect Joseph Mendez is now in police custody.
According to Hobbs Police Department, Mendez voluntarily turned himself in on his outstanding warrant for murder.

A man was found dead in an Allsup parking lot in Hobbs Tuesday, and the person police think did it is still at large.
At about 10:26 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Hobbs Police Department responded to the Allsup located at 316 N. Marland in reference to a man being shot.
Officers found 45-year-old Jessie Torrez Jr. with several gunshot wounds. Torrez was deemed dead upon officer's arrival. Police found out that Torrez was involved in a parking lot altercation.
After an investigation, police discovered that 45-year-old Irene Mendez and 19-year-old Joseph Mendez were involved.
After arrest warrants were issued, Irene was arrested for accessory to commit murder on Thursday.
The arrest warrant for Joseph was for murder. Joseph is still at large, HPD says.
