Hobbs man arrested after hitting six vehicles and six pedestrians in a parking lot

19-year-old Randy Nahul Martinez was charged with aggravated DWI, causing bodily injury, negligent use of firearm and six counts of aggravated battery.

A man has been arrested in Hobbs, New Mexico after hitting multiple cars and people.

On Sunday at about 1 a.m., deputies with the Lea County Sheriff's Office were conducting a security check in the 1900 block of E. Stanolind. During the check, a vehicle crashed into multiple other cars and pedestrians in the parking lot of Corral Arena.

Deputies contacted 19-year-old Randy Nahun Martinez in the driver seat.

The investigation determined he struck six parked vehicles and six pedestrians. The pedestrian injuries were minor cuts and bruises, major internal injuries and broken bones. They were transported to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital, with one having to be flown to a Lubbock hospital.

Deputies noticed several indications of alcohol, and a sobriety test confirmed their suspicions.

After his arrest, he submitted a breath test with the results being 0.19 and 0.20, more than twice the legal limit in New Mexico.

Martinez was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, causing bodily injury, negligent use of firearm and six counts of aggravated battery. He's been released on an unsecure appearance bond of $5000.
