Kermit juvenile charged with two counts of accident-causing serious bodily injury

A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run crash.

KERMIT, Texas — A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run Thursday night in Kermit.

According to a Facebook post from the Winkler County Sheriff's Office, the suspect, 17-year-old Daniel Muniz Jr, is responsible for an accident that has left two juveniles with "major traumatic injuries."

The report states that Muniz did not immediately stop after the collision. After being followed by a good Samaritan, Muniz's location was reported to authorities and he was arrested without incident. 

The two juveniles Muniz struck were transported to the Winkler County Memorial Hospital with major injuries. They were later flown to Lubbock by AeroCare. They remain in critical condition.

Muniz now faces two felony charges of accident involving serious bodily injury charges.
