Man arrested after 'shots fired call' at Odessa Walmart, Ector County sheriff confirms

Marcus Thomas was arrested for three counts of deadly conduct discharge of a firearm, interfere with police service animal injury, criminal mischief and evading.

ODESSA, Texas — A man was arrested for multiple charges Tuesday after a "shots fired call" near the Walmart off of JBS Parkway, Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis confirmed to NewsWest 9.

According to Griffis, when Odessa Police Department officers arrived to the scene at about 3:42 a.m., a person identified as 35-year-old Marcus Thomas drove away in a GMC pickup truck.

Deputies later found the truck and chased Thomas into Midland County — Griffis confirmed that is where he was caught and arrested.

According to Griffis, there was damage to the Walmart property and a parked car. No injuries were reported.

Jail records show that Thomas was arrested for three counts of deadly conduct with a firearm, evading arrest/detention, interfere with police service animal injury and criminal mischief.

No bonds have been set at this time.
