Man in Big Spring indicted for murder and convicted of burglary of habitation, court documents show

On Feb. 21, Ray Alvarado was indicted for the alleged murder of Christopher Semmelmann and was convicted of burglary of habitation.

BIG SPRING, Texas — Ray Alvarado, who has been charged with three murders in December of 2023, has been indicted for one of the murder charges. He also was convicted of a March 2018 burglary of habitation charge. The indictment and conviction was filed on Feb. 21.

Back on December 15, 2023, Howard County deputies found the body of 32-year-old Christopher Semmelmann on the side of the road in the 3800 block of N. Hwy 87. Deputies said the man was “recently murdered" in the 100 block of Jonesboro Rd.

Five days later, Alvarado was arrested and charged for the murder of Semmelmann. The same day, he was arrested for a March 2018 burglary of habitation charge.

According to jail records, Alvarado has also been charged with the murder of David Holsenbeck and Rosendo Deanda. Both alleged murders happened in December of 2023.

As far as NewsWest 9 is aware, a jury trial date has not been currently set for the Semmelmann murder indictment.
