MIDLAND, Texas — Midland County Assistant District Attorney Timothy Flathers tells NewsWest 9 that they have found 19-year-old Greg Anthony Barrera guilty of murder and sentenced him to 60 years in prison and he will have to pay a $10,000 fine.
Back on May 29, 2021, Barrera, 17 years old at the time, fired multiple rounds of his 9-millimeter pistol at 19-year-old Samuel Anaya. Anaya was then pronounced deceased after police found him in an alley behind the Kessler's Hall event venue on Wall St.
The Midland County District Attorney's Office believes the shooting was "motivated by disputes among groups involved locally in rap music."
Barrera will have to serve at least half of his sentence before possibly granted parole.
