Multiple agencies help in major operation in Lamesa that leads to 17 arrests

LAMESA, Texas — Multiple agencies help in a major operation in Lamesa on Thursday and Friday, according to a Lamesa Police Department press release. Officials cracked down on illegal drug, traffic and weapon pursuits. 

Within two days, Lamesa Police Department and officials seized 72.8 grams of methamphetamines and two grams of THC/ marijuana. 

It was reported that officials completed 127 traffic stops, 13 vehicle searches, two pursuits, seven vehicle tows and 17 arrests.  

"These operations target and suppress general and specific crimes within our great community," the press release stated.

The agencies that helped in the operation: Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division, South Plains Auto-Theft Taskforce, Lubbock's Texas Anti-Gang Unit, Lamesa Police Department, Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms, Homeland Security Investigations and US Marshals.
