Multiple vandalisms with suspects using BB guns reported in Odessa; no arrests made

Corporal Steve LeSueur says it's important to look at your surveillance footage if you have any if you're a victim of these vandalisms.

ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department is warning the public about a rash of vandalisms that occurred on Wednesday night in the North and Northeast Odessa.

According to OPD, approximately a dozen criminal mischiefs were reported where unknown subjects used a BB gun to shoot out vehicle windows.

OPD states that all the vehicles were parked and unoccupied during the time of each incident.

According to the department, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

OPD says that they've encountered cases like these in the past, and usually it's only a matter of time until they catch those responsible. But it's also really important and a great help during these investigations. When the community gets involved by sharing whatever information or evidence they have.

“So, it's so important to look at your surveillance footage. If you have surveillance cameras, it could be something as simple as a doorbell camera. Even if you don't have a doorbell camera, check with your neighbors, because a lot of people, the victims, what we found is that your neighbors or somebody on the street probably does have a camera. They did pick up at least the suspect vehicle. So double check with them, because that's a great start,” said CPL. Steve LeSueur, Public Information Officer for OPD.

So what can you do to prevent the chance of your vehicle and others in your neighborhood being vandalized?

“Well, in this case, really one of the only things you can do is, you know, park your vehicle in your garage if possible. But if what we understand a lot of cases you can't," LeSueur continued. "So one of the best things you can do is just be a good, be a great neighbor, you know, report all suspicious activities, suspicious vehicles and suspicious persons to the Odessa Police Department.”

If anyone has surveillance footage or is a victim of these alleged vandalisms, contact OPD at 432-333-3641 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.

The investigation is ongoing.
