Pecos Police Department warns of man posing as 'Texas-New Mexico Power third party vendor'

Pecos Police Department warns citizens about new scam of a suspicious man going door to door claiming to work for TNMP.

PECOS, Texas — Editor's Note: This updated article reflects the correct law enforcement agency.

Pecos Police Department (PPD) report of suspicious man showing up on citizens doorsteps claiming to be a third-party vendor for Texas New Mexico Power (TNMP). 

According to TNMP, there are not any authorized vendors working in the area. This has raised concerns with the TNMP, regarding the man's interactions with residents. 

PPD stated in a Facebook post, if you see this person in your area, please use extreme caution and report their location to Pecos Police Department. 

Keeping yourself safe is the priority.

In a Facebook post Pecos Police Department said these are general safety precautions:

  • Verify Identification, always request proper identification from anyone claiming to represent a utility company or other service provider. If in doubt, contact the company directly to confirm the individual’s credentials.
  • Protect personal information, do not share personal or financial information with strangers or unsolicited visitors. 
  • Be cautious with entry, do not let unknown individuals enter your home without verifying their identity and purpose. 
  • Report suspicious activity, if you observe any unusual behavior or have concerns about individuals in your area, please contact the Pecos Police Department. Your safety is our priority. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our community secure.
