MIDLAND, Texas — In the early hours of Thursday morning, March 21, the Midland Police Department responded to the area of South Midkiff Road and West Wall Street in an effort to locate a stolen vehicle.

Officers from MPD successfully located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

According to police, the driver of the stolen vehicle evaded the stop, leading to a pursuit.

The vehicle traveled westbound on Bankhead Highway, where the driver failed to negotiate a turn, resulting in a collision with a tree in the 4100 block of West Wall Street.

MPD extracted two occupants from the vehicle after the vehicle reportedly caught on fire.

Both occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.
