PRESIDIO, Texas — The Presidio Police Department is looking for a man out of Fort Stockton who is considered to be armed and dangerous after leading an officer on a high-speed pursuit.
On Monday, Presidio PD initiated a traffic stop in reference to a stolen vehicle at the Frontier Travel Center.
The officer instructed the driver to show hands, but the driver refused and drove off.
The driver led the officer on a high-speed pursuit which reached 92 miles per hour. The driver turned into FM 170 West where a lot owned by the International Water Boundary Commissions was located. The suspect then hopped the gate, continued on foot and the Presidio PD officer chased the individual for 17 minutes.
The suspect fired gunshots in the officer's direction, and the pursuit was terminated.
The Presidio County Sheriff's Office, Presidio U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Protection assisted in tracking the individual. They observed the suspect, identified as Ivan Ramos Hernandez, crossing into Mexican territory illegally as gunshots were being fired.
Once multiple agencies searched the car Hernandez was driving, they found keys to six different vehicles, personal identifications that were stolen and an ID that was used to deceive law enforcement.
Hernandez is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted for evading arrest, unauthorized use of motor vehicle and identity theft.
