Suspect admits to shooting and killing someone in Ector County

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is underway in Ector County after a person was fatally shot on Election Day morning, according to the Ector County Sheriff's Office (ECSO).

On Tuesday at 5:24 a.m., ECSO got a call about a gunshot victim in the 3500 block of Flint Ave.

When deputies arrived on scene, the person shot was taken to Medical Center Hospital. That person later died.

ECSO detained a suspect at the scene and recovered a firearm.

According to deputies, the suspect was taken down to the sheriff's office for further questioning. The suspect then admitted to shooting the victim.

ECSO said it is not releasing the name of the suspect or victim at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
