Teen charged with murder after another teen dies due to fentanyl poisoning

ECSO says 17-year-old Avian Daniel Sanchez sold fentanyl pills to 18-year-old Ryan Michael Mojica. Sanchez is currently in the Ector County jail on a $200,000 bond.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after another teen dies due to fentanyl poisoning.

On Thursday Dec. 7 at 6:10 a.m., Ector County Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to an ambulance run.

18-year-old Ryan Michael Mojica was taken to MCH for a possible overdose. Lifesaving measures were taken but were unsuccessful. CID was called to investigate.

Through the investigation, it was learned that Mojica purchased fentanyl pills from 17-year-old Avian Daniel Sanchez the night before. Mojica showed to have fentanyl in his system.

Once contact was made with Sanchez, he admitted to selling the pills to Mojica.

Sanchez was put under arrest for murder. He's currently in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on a $200,000 bond.
