Two parents in Midland arrested after leaving five-year-old child with autism unattended

30-year-old Amanda Wilson and 32-year-old Nathaniel Spellings were charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — Two parents in Midland have been arrested after deputies with the Midland County Sheriff's Office found an unattended five-year-old child with autism, according to a press release.

On Thursday, July 25, at approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to the 2100 block of SCR 1140 in reference to a found child. Through MCSO's investigation, the child was identified as five years old and autistic.

MCSO was able to make contact with the parents, 30-year-old Amanda Wilson and 32-year-old Nathaniel Spellings.

When deputies inspected the home the family was living in, MCSO determined that the residence was unsanitary.

Both Wilson and Spelling were charged with abandoning or endangering a child and have been booked into the Midland County Central Detention Center.

The case is ongoing and Child Protective Services is getting involved.
