FORT STOCKTON, Texas — A high-speed chase in Fort Stockton involving a white Chevrolet pickup ended in a crash with a rail car on Wednesday night, according to Fort Stockton Chief of Police Ernesto Velasquez.
Around 7:50 p.m., the Fort Stockton Police Department received a report of a pickup speeding north on US Highway 285 from Terrell County and suspected the driver to be fleeing from law enforcement.
FSPD initiated a traffic stop as the pickup continued north on US Highway 285 approaching the intersection of Business Interstate 10. The vehicle disregarded multiple "traffic control devices" as it continued at a high rate of speed north on Alamo St. before reaching the end of a paved city street and entering a pasture.
The vehicle continued north before colliding with a parked rail car on the train tracks. Multiple people inside the vehicle were injured as a result of the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no more details are available.
