ALPINE, Texas — A woman was sentenced to over eight years in prison in Pecos for intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to a press release from the United States Department of Justice.
The release further stated that 37-year-old Sandra Araceli Dia Vazquez was suspected of delivering narcotics within the United States.
On December 5, 2023, law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop a long I-20 near Colorado City after witnessing Diaz Vazquez commit two moving violations.
The violations prompted a vehicle search, where authorities discovered approximately 20.2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 5.6 kilograms of fentanyl concealed in the fuel tank.
