ODESSA, TX (KWES) - DPS Troopers have released more information regarding Tuesday afternoon's deadly shooting in Odessa.
DPS Troopers Chad Matlock and Michael Thomas are continuing to recover and the suspect has been identified as Roger Dean Shull, Jr. 24, of Monahans.
As you may recall, around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, DPS Troopers were assisting Texas Rangers and the Ward County Sheriff's Office in tracking Shull in the Odessa area. Shull was wanted for aggravated assault out of Ward County.
DPS Officials say that's when Shull was found at the Phillips 66 gas station near the intersection of 42nd and Andrews Highway.
Authorities say according to a preliminary investigation, there was an exchange of gunfire between Shull and DPS officials.
Both Matlock and Thomas were taken to Medical Center Hospital following the shooting. DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, one of the troopers was shot in the leg and chest while the other was shot in the arm.
DPS Troopers announced later in the day that Shull was dead.
