MIDLAND, Texas — The following is a news release from Better Bond for Midland:
Today, Better Bond for Midland has partnered with election integrity watchdog Direct Action Texas to investigate the execution of the November 5, 2019 election on a $569 million bond proposed by Midland ISD.
The election has been fraught in its execution and MISD trustees rushed today to accept questionable results. The outcome of this election is not in any way shape or form final. Suggestions of finality are premature.
Despite, looming questions about a faulty election, no explanation for discrepancies in vote totals has been given. In fact, to date, voting machines remain unopened and unverified by Better Bond for Midland.
MISD trustees have openly admitted from the time of the recount that the current result is flawed.
Midlanders can rest assured we will work tirelessly to get to the bottom of what has transpired and ensure trust in the electoral process is restored with a new election.
Christine Welborn, DAT’s Director of Election Integrity, said, "scrutiny from outside experts and the state officials charged with ensuring the proper execution of elections is needed."
