ODESSA, Texas — Crockett Middle School in Odessa is starting their school year off on an exciting note!
On Monday, Aug. 12, it was the initiation of the school's international baccalaureate program.
The program is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills, curiosity and a love for learning.
The program also aims to help students take ownership of their learning, to develop skills for their future.
"Some of those changes, they include new staff, and again, new programming with the international baccalaureate and new students," said Senovio Ortiz, principal of Crockett Middle School. "We have new students coming in from all over the district this year for the program and so we are excited about that."
The goal behind the program is to change the mindset of teachers and students. The new approach, according to the school, is expected to be different and exciting.
