Dr. Steve Brown reelected to TASB Board of Directors

Dr. Steve Brown is reelected to a three-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards representing Region 18.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Ector County Independent School District's (ECISD) own Dr. Steve Brown has been reelected to a three-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors for Region 18. 

Dr. Brown is an Odessa native; he worked as a teacher and administrator at ECISD for 35 years. He received his doctorate in education administration, master’s in guidance and counseling, and bachelor’s in political science from Texas Tech University.

After he retired in 2011, Brown ran for the ECISD Board of Trustees and has been actively involved with education and community organizations.  

Dr. Brown is a Leadership TASB graduate and Master Trustee, he is also a trustee on the TASB Risk Management Fund Board.

According to a news release from ECISD, "TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school boards." 

"School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.5 million public school students," Chief Communication Officer Mike Adkins said.
