ODESSA, Texas — Ector County Independent School District tells NewsWest 9 that ECISD police on Thursday afternoon arrested a 16-year-old Permian High School for making a false report about a threat to shoot up the school.
According to a media release, an acquaintance of the student, who lives out of state, sent the threatening message to her Thursday morning.
The female student then reported it as being "airdropped" to her on campus.
ECISD says her report started a police response that lasted most of Thursday and ended with her arrest.
The Permian High School student has been charged with false report, a Class B Misdemeanor, and will face disciplinary action as well.
