Ector County ISD continues its search for superintendent

The Ector County Independent School District Board of Trustees is looking to replace Dr. Scott Muri after he announced his retirement in August.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — The Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) Board of Trustees held a special meeting Thursday night as they continue to search for a new superintendent.

The board is looking to replace Dr. Scott Muri after he announced his retirement in August.

The Texas Association of School Boards is the organization helping ECISD with their search and they say they have already received a lot of calls from people interested in the job.

Board President Chris Stanley told NewsWest 9 they still have to cast a wide net to make sure they hire the right candidate.

"When Dr. Muri got here we were in desperate straits and he got us from what I call bad to good and the next superintendent is gonna get us from good to better or good to great," Stanley said. "So in order to find an agent of change like that who can help 34,000 plus kids in our school district move like that we have to go wide."

The ECISD board said they plan to announce their decision on a new superintendent on March 3.
