Ector County ISD takes action on a piece of district's school bond

ECISD Board of Trustees voted to secure the purchase of about 21 acres near Andrews Highway and 52nd St. for a new transportation facility.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Ector County Independent School District took action Tuesday night on a piece of the district's school bond.

ECISD Board of Trustees voted to secure the purchase of about 21 acres near Andrews Highway and 52nd St. for a new transportation facility.

The size of the property and the location were both ideal for ECISD.

"This 21 acre piece of property will be the primary location for our buses, and again, this allows us to access the high-growth areas of our community," ECISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Muri said. "Transportation we bus north, south, east and west. Our buses drive about two million miles a year, so we cover this county over and over again. So having an appropriate location that will add some efficiencies to our transportation system is pretty important."

Dr. Muri added that the existing facility will be used as a remote site, and that they are fortunate to have secured this new property.
