Midland College appoints new vice president of institutional advancement

MIDLAND, Texas — Midland College has appointed Dr. Adrian Vega as the college's vice president of institutional advancement, according to a press release on Friday.

Dr. Vega is joining MC from his recent role as executive director for the Education Partnership of the Permian Basin.

MC stated in the release that Dr. Vega has 20 years of leadership experience in both Texas and Arizona school districts.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Vega to our team,” said Dr. Damon Kennedy, president of Midland College. “His extensive experience in education and his collaborative leadership style perfectly aligns with Midland College’s strategic goals. We are very fortunate to have a strong partner in the work of reimagining the future of our institution.” 

According to the release, Dr. Vega started his career in the Dallas Independent School District. Within the district, he was a bilingual teacher, assistant principal, instructional coach and professional development leader.

A part of Ector County ISD, Dr. Vega was the founding principal for New Tech Odessa High School, a college-prep institution known for its project-based learning approach, the release stated.

"I am super excited to join an amazing team at Midland College. Based on Dr. Kennedy's leadership and vision for Midland College, the community of Midland and its partnering districts, I am grateful to be part of MC's continued growth and success.” Dr. Vega said in the release. “I look forward to getting to know the faculty, staff, students, and community of Midland College.
