MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Independent School District (MISD) Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract renewal with Third Future Schools as the 1882 partner who oversees Sam Houston Collegiate Preparatory, according to a MISD Communications news release Tuesday evening.
After a review of Sam Houston's performance, the board determined that the renewal updates' performance goals aligned with MISD board goals. The renewal updates' performance goals also included achieving a "B" campus rating and exceeding district targets in several areas.
"With academic outcomes as a top priority for the district, Sam Houston Collegiate Preparatory Elementary has shown strong performance with NWEA MAP scores consistently showing a year's growth or more in each area," MISD Communications stated in the release. "Additionally, there is a focus on students achieving the 'masters' level on STAAR Reading."
MISD said throughout their partnership, Sam Houston has "maintained strong financial health" and "provides unique benefits" like "an extended calendar and before-and-after school programs that meet the needs of MISD families."
More of the reason for the board to consider a renewal was based on "high parental satisfaction and a substantial waitlist, noting the high demand for the school."
