Midland ISD breaks ground on new elementary school

The creation of the new campus in northeast Midland was approved by voters in the November 2023 bond election. The campus is set to open in the fall of 2025.

Midland ISD broke ground on their new elementary school Tuesday morning.

The new 92,500 square foot building will accommodate up to 830 students in the area of the Lone Star Trails subdivision in northeast Midland, according to MISD.

The school district hopes to open the school by August 2025. It will serve Pre-K through 6th grade at first, transitioning to Pre-K through 5th grade when the district reconfigures with the opening of new secondary campuses in 2028.

The school's design will be similar to Yarbrough and Fasken Elementary Schools.

"This school will be more than just a building," said Morgan Robertson, the school's first principal. "It represents a bright future for MISD students. I'm excited to be a part of it!"

A committee to name the campus will convene in the summer.
