MIDLAND, Texas — Midland Independent School District announced on Tuesday that the name of the new elementary school is Lone Star Trails. It is expected to open in August of 2025.
MISD also revealed the school's mascot as the armadillo.
"Our commitment to education continues to grow, and we can’t wait to see the great things our students will embark on at their new campus," MISD said in a Facebook post.
Lone Star Trails Elementary school was created by the 2023 MISD School Bond.
"Thank you to everyone who supported the school bond and for the community helping to select the school's name and mascot!" the school district said.
