Midland ISD starting to draw up plans for new schools following 2023 bond election

The plan is to build two new high schools, a new elementary school and provide upgrades to the pre-existing MISD schools.

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland ISD Board of Trustees held their first meeting of the year Tuesday to discuss the new bond following the 2023 school bond election.

Things are moving forward as the district has started drawing up plans to build the new schools.

The plan is to build two new high schools, a new elementary school and provide upgrades to the pre-existing MISD schools.

Pfluger Architects will be a key part of the project.

"Just to be a part of helping to make that happen, and then watching it happen, that was incredible," Terry Hoyle, Chief Executive Officer of Pfluger Architects said. "Now, to be able to continue to be a part of making it a reality, to plan, design, and construct this building – it's a testament to building legacy and seizing opportunities. It truly transforms the City of Midland, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We're so blessed to be a part of it."

MISD Board members are set to have their first bond meeting next Monday to go over logistics and designs of the new schools.
