ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Chamber of Commerce along with Medical Center Health System hosted this year's Texas Tech Health Sciences Center Medical Student Welcome Reception Monday.
The Chamber hopes that these talented young transplants will make Odessa their permanent home.
"At the end of the day, they will decide, in several years where they want to set up shop once they finish their classroom piece of it and then they have their residency," Renee Earls, President and CEO of Odessa Chamber of Commerce, said. "We hope they will come back to West Texas and want to be a permanent fixture here and so we want to really show them appreciation and welcome them and let them know we're here to answer any question."
This year, 29 medical students were welcomed into the community, and many Chamber members sponsored students.
