ODESSA, Texas — Odessa College held their Preview Day Fair today, letting prospective students get a glimpse into what their future could look like if they chose to go to Odessa College.
“It's an opportunity for us to open up our campus to the community [for the] opportunity for community members to see what Odessa College has to offer what we're all about,” said Jason Meldrum, Odessa College's Vice President of Academic Partnerships.
Students went around the campus, visiting various booths that offered opportunities such as scholarships, club memberships and class information.
“It’s a day where you get to walk around, see what OC provides for you and you get to see all these opportunities that are open for you," said Ryan Esparzay, a criminal justice major. "If you don't know what's at OC, they show you such as I'm in positivity OC... so I show everybody what we get out to the world and when we get to positively bring to Odessa College.”
The preview day fair is just that: a preview. It showcases everything that a student can accomplish by going to Odessa College.
“They can get a degree and transfer on to another university, or they can get a degree and go right into the workforce," Meldrum said. "They can get rescaling and upskilling if they are already in a career, but they need to get some additional skills we offer that.”
The best part is that anyone and anybody can come on down and become a Wrangler.
“It doesn't matter your age. If you're a high school kid, we have dual credit classes. If you're someone in your 60's and you want to go back into the workforce and get some retraining, we have graduates that are quite a bit older than your traditional students," Meldrum said. "We offer a little bit for everyone.”
