Ultimate recognition was given to UT Permian Basin students on Monday

UTPB students who were accepted into Pi Kappa Lamda, a music honor society, participated in an induction ceremony hosted by the university.

ODESSA, Texas — Some UT Permian Basin students got the ultimate recognition on Monday.

The university held their induction ceremony for students who were accepted into Pi Kappa Lamda, which is a music honor society.

Students were selected based on their academic, leadership and musical abilities.

"Just emulating what you see your facility doing in a rehearsal not just the musical stuff but how to communicate with people and get them to do what you need them to do and these students we recognized today are the cream of the crop," UTPB Music Department Founding Chair Dan Keast said. "They've come to become amazing students of learning how to be great teachers in the future. I'm so proud of what they've become in the last two to three years, some of them four years. They're a senior and ready to go and I can't wait."

The university says it's a way to highlight students who not only can become great educators, but teach how to be a good person too.
