FORT STOCKTON - A Fort Stockton man accused of stabbing his wife to death allegedly confessed to the crime to Fort Stockton Police.

That's according to an affidavit obtained by NewsWest 9.

40-year-old Luis Bustamante Orona remains behind bars for the murder of his wife, 25-year-old Mayra Fernandez Orona.

On Saturday, Fort Stockton Police arrived at the Stripes parking lot in the 100 block of north Front Street.

That's where they found Mayra laying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Witnesses say that Bustamante stabbed his wife to death.

When police reached the man by phone, he told them his wife was dead because he stabbed her 20 times.

According to the affidavit, Bustamante's employer told police he confessed to the murder.

He's sitting in the Pecos County Jail on first degree murder charges.
