MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - October 10, Texas Pastor Todd Phillips decided to live on a barge until he raised $2.29 million for clean water wells to be drilled in Liberia.
Phillips stayed on Lake Hubbard in Dallas where he setup the Last Well, the barge he would remain on until he raised the funds.
Stacy Hilliard has a compassion for helping others and has served on many mission trips to Africa.
It was on the 28th day of a mission, that Stacy was watching a Facebook live with her husband Brent.
“The longer I sat there and watched it, I was like, this guy's ready to go home. So, we just decided ‘you know what towards the end, we will pay off whatever the rest is left over, and we will send him home,’” Brent Hilliard said.
Hilliard Office Solutions decided then to cover the remainder, close to $45,000.
The family says the generous donation was simple.
“They wanted water and the gospel to be given to every person in Liberia, every county in Liberia. That’s about 3,700 wells or so that they are drilling or hand digging,” Stacy Hilliard said.
The Christian non-profit will drill the last well, on November 12 at 2:47 P.M. in 2020.
