There have been so many twists and turns in Hailey's case. It's hard to keep up so we're giving you a look back at how the investigation unfolded from day one.
December 27, 2010 - 13-year-old Hailey Dunn disappears from her Colorado City home.
The investigation into the missing girl begins and it didn't take long for the suspicions to start growing.
Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie and her live in-boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, came under the microscope.
Both Dunn and Adkins failed polygraph tests during the initial investigation.
According to the affidavit, Shawn Adkins abruptly quit his job on the day Hailey disappeared. He told investigators he left his job and went directly to his mother's home in Big Spring.
An affidavit says cell phone pings of his phone indicated he first made a stop in Colorado City where Hailey was last seen.
It also said that same evening, Adkins and Dunn made a trip to Snyder where they withdrew $140 to purchase drugs.
Just days after she went missing, court documents say the couple had a New Year's Eve party in their home but Adkins reportedly said it was a "small get together."
Court documents went on to say in the days following her disappearance, a search of the family's home, "found a box containing hundreds of documents focused on mass murderers, serial killers and murders of family members."
Items Dunn told authorities was a "hobby."
According to the affidavit, Adkins failed the polygraph test once and walked out on two others.
But at one point, he did say Hailey could be found in Scurry County, which the test indicated was the truth.
During the lie detector tests, when asked who authorities should be investigating in the disappearance of Hailey, Shawn Adkins said "both of us" referring to himself and Billie Dunn.
Another court document said more than 180,000 images were found on a computer at the home of Shawn Adkins' mother in Big Spring.
The Mitchell County Sheriff says those images included bestiality.
Last February, remains were found in Big Spring near Shawn Adkins mothers home. But after a lot speculation, the identity of those bones turned out to be a man.
Exactly one year later, human remains were found in Scurry County near Lake JB Thomas. The place Shawn Adkins told officers, they would find Hailey.
A few days later, Billie Dunn talked to NewsWest 9 and said she was suspicious of Shawn and believed he could have been connected to Hailey's disappearance.
So far, Shawn Adkins is the only person of interest in the case.
