To nominate a nurse, you can go to PBGreat25.com. Nominations are due July 21 and the winner will be announced during the recognition ceremony on Oct 19.

MIDLAND, Texas — The annual award ceremony for the Permian Basin Great 25 Nurses is coming up and the organization is seeking nominations from all of West Texas.

The ceremony is a non-profit event that runs off donations and sponsorships. Multiple board members and nurses throughout the Permian Basin get together monthly to discuss the event. They send out nominee forms to the community to nominate a nurse that they want to have recognition for their hard work.

Nurses from Andrews, Borden, Brewster, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Loving, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Pecos, Reagan, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward and Winkler counties are eligible for selection.

"I still see patients today that I took care of in the ICU 10 years ago, and I run into them in the store and they will still remember, thank you for taking care of them," Associate Chief Nursing Officer David Graham said. "It's just a good way, I think, to get recognition for them. Nursing is a hard job and a lot of times, it's hard work. It's physically demanding, mentally demanding. It can be tough on your families and things like that. You miss out on a lot of things on those long hours. But getting that recognition once in a while kind of helps recenter you and reminds you why you got into it."

To nominate a nurse, you can go to PBGreat25.com for more information.

Nominations are due July 21. The winner will be announced during the recognition ceremony on Oct 19.
