HOWARD COUNTY - New cars for the Sheriffs Department in Howard County just rolled in and these new rides are not only faster, but also more efficient than the old ones.
The department's eight new cars come equipped with the latest technology to help deputies keep Howard County safe.
The new Dodge Chargers have a state-of-the-art camera system that has a monitor in the rearview mirror.
This system automatically uploads all the deputies' data as soon as they pull into the jail.
The new cars also have a lot more room and the backseats are hard plastic instead of cloth seats. Officials say this helps cut cleaning costs and they even changed the exterior color from brown to silver.
"Overall, its been a very good move for us. It has helped the public a lot because we are getting noticed better and the more police presence we have in the county, it's a lot better for us and the community," Josh Peterson with the Howard County Sheriff's Department, said.
