A 40-year-old man dies at the scene of a crash in Midland County

Forty-year-old Jared Nowell struck 52-year-old Jorge Rodriguez in the middle of the intersection at FM 1379 and ECR 160. Nowell was pronounced dead at the scene.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — The Department of Public Safety has released a fatal crash report, which occurred in Midland County Wednesday morning.

According to DPS, 40-year-old Jared Nowell, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling westbound on East CR 160.

Fifty-two-year-old Jorge Rodriguez, going northbound on FM 1379, was driving a 2013 Freightliner truck with a trailer.

DPS says Nowell traveled past a sideways stop sign in the westbound lane of ECR 160, entered the intersection and hit Rodriguez.

Nowell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.
