Updated details on the 43-year-old Hobbs man struck by juvenile driver on Sunday night later dies at hospital, Hobbs PD says

According to an investigation by Hobbs PD, 43-year-old Leroy Gonzales was in the roadway when a juvenile driver, driving a maroon pickup, hit him.

HOBBS, N.M. — A 43-year-old Hobbs, New Mexico man died at Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital Sunday night after being struck by a juvenile driver at the intersection of Broadway St. and Turner St., according to a press release from the Hobbs Police Department. The incident took place around 10:31 p.m.

The press release states that 43-year-old Leroy Gonzales was in the roadway when a juvenile driver, driving a maroon pickup, hit him.

When medics arrived to the scene of the collision, they performed life-saving measures on Gonzales. Gonzales was taken to CHHH where he later died.

Hobbs Police Department states in an updated press release that this type of investigation is very complex and has several areas that need to be evaluated. 

The Hobbs Police Department have several search warrants executed, speed analysis is being investigated, videos reviewed, pedestrian traffic laws researched, and several other investigative techniques are being used.

The investigation regarding the collision is ongoing.
