MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Police Department is reporting that a car-pedestrian crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Dallas Street and Florida Avenue, leaving a 43-year-old man dead.
According to MPD's report, a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 was going eastbound in the 300 block of East Florida Ave. Then “a vehicle pulled out in front of the truck in the same lane of travel.” That forced the driver of the Chevrolet to make “an evasive maneuver into the outside lane to avoid [a] collision.”
MPD's report states that two pedestrians were crossing the intersection of Dallas St. and Florida Ave. southbound. One of the pedestrians was in the outside lane of travel, the other in the inside lane of travel.
The Chevrolet, after taking evasive action into the outside lane, avoided the first pedestrian but hit the other pedestrian.
The pedestrian that was hit was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he later died. He has been identified as Danny Glen Howl.
No further information has been released from MPD.
