STANTON, Texas —
The Redneck Round Up Car and Truck show had started to not only bring a fun car show to the Permian Basin, but to also support local non-profit Gifts of Hope.
“So, we are a local nonprofit that assists cancer patients in the Permian Basin. We serve 33 counties in West, Texas and Southeast New Mexico through free lodging, financial assistance for cancer treatment. We also do support groups. We make lunches daily from Monday through Friday, and we offer a tele-home program where a retired nurse reaches out to all our past clients and just tries to keep them connected,” said Clint Dickson, Executive Director for Permian Basin Gifts of Hope.
The organizer of the car show has personal experience working with Gifts of Hope and seeing the way they helped his wife, sparked something in him to help them back.
“And all the funds are going to go to the Gift of Hope. And we try to do it every year at this time of year, we'll put on this car show and what I like to do is to give it to the Gift of Hope because they help cancer victims and like I said earlier, my wife had four stage cancer and the gift of hope helped her all the way through the chemo and that's why I'm putting on this car show,” said Clarence Sauer, director of the Redneck Round up Car and Truck Show.
The turnout at the car show was more than what Gifts of Hope could ask for and the proceeds will go a long way in helping them with their mission.
“To see all these people coming together to enjoy cars, it's such a great thing to watch somebody do something that's not only fun but has an impact for their neighbors,” Dickson said.
