ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Five Odessa Police Department Detectives received the honor of being named officers of the month.
We're told the entire Criminal Investigations Division Burglary Unit was selected.
The unit consists of Detectives: Sgt. Ryan Thompson, Cpl. Josh Aguilar, Cpl. Sam Chavez, Cpl. Rene Chavez and Cpl. Roy Ramos.
Odessa police said the burglary unit is an important part of the Criminal Investigations Division as the five detectives have approximately 50 years of combined law enforcement experience.
We're told the burglary unit has recently solved several residential and business burglaries due to their investigative skills and working long hours.
Police said their hard work and dedication has resulted in a 44% decrease in burglaries in January 2017 as compared to the same report a year prior.
