58-year-old man seriously injured after being hit by truck in Midland

MIDLAND, Texas — A man has been seriously injured after being hit by a truck while crossing North Big Street during rush hour Tuesday, according to the Midland Police Department (MPD).

MPD responded to the accident with a pedestrian at 4:19 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Big Spring St.

According to MPD, while officers were on scene, witnesses told police that a 58-year-old man was "attempting to cross the road" and was hit by a 2019 Ford pick-up truck.

MPD has reported that the pedestrian was "somewhat conscious and alert" but had "major head trauma."

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and has been listed in serious but stable condition.

According to MPD's investigation of the crash scene, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street during "rush hour traffic" and "failed to yield the right of way."
