MIDLAND, Texas — Ninety-three-year-old Weldon Brogden, who drove off an elevated roadway of Loop 250 and crashed into a Toyota Camry on North Big Spring Street, passed away on Sunday, according to Strategic Communications Officer Stewart Doreen with the City of Midland.
Officers say around 11:49 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, Brogden was driving a 2018 Honda Ridgeline eastbound on Loop 250 as he was approaching the overpass of Big Spring St.
Then, Brogden left the elevated roadway of Loop 250 and fell into the area near the intersection of North Big Spring Street and the Loop 250 South Service Road.
MPD said Brogden collided with a Toyota Camry that was going southbound on Big Spring St.
The driver of the Camry sustained minor injuries and did not need to be taken to a local hospital.
Police suspected that Brogden was experiencing a medical emergency when he left the elevated roadway and crashed into the Toyota Camry.
Brogden was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he later died.
